Town Poem

In this struggling town, everyone works hard to live,
When the day is done, they still have nothing to give.

Their run down houses cause bone chilling nights,
They eat their vague dinner by candle lights.

The children are forced to wear clothing that tear,
Because their families do not have a nickel to spare.

Young children cannot get an education,
Instead they must work to support their family and nation.

The African American children wonder why they are treated so badly,
They would trade places with a white boy gladly.
